Unknown | 07:21 | ,

Google's new Nexus 7 has already landed at some retailers and online stores, but now it's officially available for purchase on the Google Play store.
Google announced that its new Nexus 7 would be available to all US customers on the Google Play store from Friday. The rest of the world - such as the UK, Canada, Germany and France - is still waiting on a rollout confirmation from Google.
The 16GB and 32GB models cost $229 and $269, respectively - and both have an estimated shipping date of 30 July. The 32GB LTE version should launch for $349 through AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile.

motorola moto x press shots leak

Unknown | 05:04 | ,

the new phone,which is sheduled to be announced on 1 august in new york will supposedly look like the picture.

"Designed not as an early adopter’s phone, but instead as an everyman phone, the X is the new Motorola’s first attempt to push some serious volume under new-ish owner Google," claims Evan Blass, the man behind the @evleaks tag.

With that in mind the images make sense, suggesting that this will be a Nexus 4 replacement rather than a device that will complete against the Samsung Galaxy S4 and the HTC One.

The official shots don't give much away as to the specs, but it does look like the back will be made of Kevlar, a favoured material by Motorola and already used on the Motorola RAZR I, RAZR M, and Droid Maxx range.

Rumours suggest that the Moto X will purportedly feature a 720p 4.5 inch display, as well as a 1.7GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor, 2 GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage.

The cameras include a 10-megapixel shooter on the back and 2-megapixel shooter on the front. It its also likely to have Android 4.2.2 on board, with support for LTE, NFC, Bluetooth 4.0 + EDR and 802.11ac Wi-Fi.
With only 10 days to the event on the 1 August, we don't have long to wait. Pocket-lint will be covering all the news as it happens.
Stay tuned.

cell phones news (Third of Brits don't care about 4G, claims YouGov poll)

Unknown | 03:23 | ,

hey everybody
EE has had its 4G network operational for over eight months now and the majority of the other major mobile phone carriers are gearing up to release their superfast data services too. However, a recent study has found that one in three mobile phone owners don't care. They don't want the new features afforded by 4G and are happy to stick with 3G.
UK polling expert YouGov has published a report on its recent survey into 4G tariffs. It polled 1,456 UK residents aged 16 and above between 5 and 17 May, including 275 people who already own a 4G phone and 134 already using EE's 4G data service. This represents, YouGov claims, a good cross section of society in the country.
As well as finding that 35 per cent don't have any desire to step up their data plans, only 23 per cent of those polled say that they are "excited" by the prospect of using 4G services. Over half claim that the services will be too expensive for them, while two thirds don't want to have to shell out for a new handset just to use 4G.
-->
More positive for the networks is that 80 per cent of those surveyed say they are aware of 4G. However, only 21 per cent say they know what it offers. A staggering 31 per cent of those who know it exists say they have no idea about its benefits.
As the networks start to roll out their services, however, the message will become more clear, says Russell Feldman, Technology and Telecoms director at YouGov. "That a lot of consumers can’t see the point of 4G presents a real challenge to operators as more of them roll out 4G to their customers," he explains.
"The low levels of understanding about what 4G offers indicates that networks need to be savvy when selling it to consumers - showing not just that it exists but also what it does. Take-up is likely to be a slow burn as consumers hold off making decisions until they see it in action."

Full Nokia Lumia 1020 spec sheet leaked, 41-megapixel camera inbound

Unknown | 01:53 |

Nokia really isn't great at keeping a lid on things. The Lumia 1020, which is due to be announced later today, has just had its entire spec sheet leaked. Rumours of a 41-megapixel camera appear to have been confirmed, with the new handset also featuring a 4.5-inch AMOLED HD+ display with a 1280 x 768 resolution wrapped in Gorilla Glass 3.
Inside the phone will use a 1.5 GHz dual-core processor, although which exactly still remains to be seen. Then there is 2GB of RAM to play with and 32GB of internal storage. 7GB of SkyDrive space will also be included.
-->
That 41-megapixel sensor will be backed up with a Xenon flash and capable of recording full 1080p video. The phone will also launch with an optional camera grip that includes an extra 1020 mAh battery and dedicated shutter button. The grip even has a proper screw mount in the bottom so you can mount the phone in a tripod.
Connectivity for the 1020 includes both LTE and HSPA+ which is definitely a good thing. The phone also will come with free access to Nokia Here maps and Here drive, which is especially handy for those who worry about the lack of Google Maps on Windows Phone.
Finally you have all the usual Bluetooth and NFC options to play with, completing the 1020's offering. Really then, this is the PureView 808 but running Windows Phone 8, quite a handset if you are into mobile photography. Interestingly, the phone will ship in black, yellow and white, but no cyan, which is a shame as we loved that colour on the older Lumias.
Expect more on the 1020 later today, with Nokia's dedicated event starting at 4pm UK time.

cell phones news (Telefonica to get exclusive 64GB Nokia Lumia 1020 for European and Latin-American markets)

Unknown | 22:51 |

In a few short hours we will be learning what Nokia and presumably AT&T have up their sleeve for the device codenamed “Elvis.” The Nokia Lumia 1020 (perhaps you know it by another noms de guerre, like EOS, Eros, Nokia 909, et al, take your pick) will land in the US at least sporting a familiar 32GB storage capacity like its Lumia 920 and Lumia 928 cousins.
-->
Of course the device is all about the camera, and taking photos with the settings maxed out will take up huge amounts of space. Since the device will not accept microSD cards, users will need to have a plan in place with cloud storage as well as backing items up on their main computers.

One way to get some breathing room with such a beast of a camera is to have copious amounts of storage and it looks like Telefonica’s brands in Europe and Latin-America will have exclusive dibs on just that, a64GB Nokia Lumia 1020. The device will launch in September and be an exclusive for customers of Movistar, Vivo, and O2 through the remainder of 2013.

Telefonica’s press release calls the device the Nokia Lumia Eros, and is part of a global agreement between Nokia and Spain based global carrier to be announced on July 11th. The release states:

"Telefónica today announced a global agreement with Nokia to sell Nokia Eros 64 Gb exclusively to Movistar, Vivo and O2 customers in Telefonica markets during 2013. The smartphone will be launched this September.

This announcement is part of the Telefónica strategy to reinforce the smartphone portfolio and increase the ecosystem offer for their customers. Telefónica will actively promote Nokia Lumia Eros 64Gb, as part of Telefónica iconic smartphone offering.

Nokia Lumia Eros brings stunning innovations only found in the SLR cameras so far, like a 41 Mpixel sensor, 6 lenses, and high resolution zoom. Taking excellent photos has never been so easy, as complex settings are turned into easy adjustments with immediately visible results.

Eros 64Gb, for Telefónica customers, will have more than double capacity than the Eros standard version, extending the capability for customers to store large amount of content, up to 4,000 images or 6 hours of very high quality Full-HD video.

…of Telefónica, said “Telefonica is firmly committed to deliver the best and exclusive experiences to our customers as part of our connected smartphones offering. This moves us one step ahead, and reinforces our leading position in front of the consumers looking for the best proposals.”
